In order to improve the service life of bearings, it is recommended to choose a bearing lubrication method that uses clean lubricating oil. There are many methods of oil lubrication, including oil injection, oil bath, oil mist, circulating oil, oil slinger, drip lubrication, etc.
Six application methods of bearing oil lubrication
1. Oil injection: For high-speed applications, sufficient but not excessive lubricating oil must be provided to the bearings to obtain sufficient lubrication without increasing the operating temperature.
A particularly effective method used here is the oil injection method, which uses high pressure to spray oil on one side of the bearing.
The fuel injection speed must be high enough, at least 15 m/s, to penetrate the turbulence around the rotating bearing.

2. Oil bath: a simple method of oil lubrication.
The lubricating oil carried by the rotating components of the bearing is distributed inside the bearing and then flows back to the oil groove.
When the bearing is stationary, the oil level should be close to the center of the rolling part.
It is recommended to use an oil level gauge, such as SKF LAHD 500, to ensure the correct oil level.
During high-speed operation, the oil level will significantly decrease, and due to the oil level gauge, the bearing housing may be filled with lubricating oil.
3. Oil mist: Due to its potential adverse effects on the environment, it is not recommended to use it for a period of time.
The new generation of oil mist generator can generate oil mist with an oil content of 5 ppm. The newly designed special seal can also greatly reduce the spread of oil mist.
If synthetic non-toxic oil is used, it can further reduce the impact on the environment.
Today, oil mist lubrication has been used in very special applications, such as the petroleum industry.
4. Circulating oil: High speed operation will cause an increase in operating temperature and accelerate oil aging. To avoid frequent oil changes and complete immersion in water, the circulating oil lubrication method is usually used.
Circulation is usually carried out using an oil pump.
After passing through the bearing, the engine oil usually flows into the oil groove, filters and cools it if necessary, and then returns to the bearing. Appropriate filtering can increase the coefficient c, thereby extending the service life of the bearing.
Cooling lubricating oil can keep the working temperature of bearings low.

5. Oil slinger: For applications that require oil lubrication and high reliability due to speed and operating temperature, we recommend using the oil slinger lubrication method.
The oil blocking ring plays a role in driving the oil circulation.
The oil blocking ring is loosely suspended on the shaft sleeve on one side of the bearing and immersed in the oil in the lower half of the bearing housing.
As the shaft rotates, the oil blocking ring also rotates, transporting oil from the bottom to the storage tank.
Then, the lubricating oil flows through the bearings and returns to the bottom oil tank.
6. Drip lubrication: also known as oil air lubrication method, this method uses compressed air to align a small amount of lubricating oil with each bearing for lubrication. Compared with other lubrication methods, this method of using a small amount of oil lubrication can enable the bearing to operate at lower temperatures or higher speeds.
Use measuring devices such as VOGELOLA oil+air systems to deliver oil to pipelines at specified time intervals.
Lubricating oil is transported through compressed air; It covers the interior of the pipeline, crawls along the interior of the pipeline, and is sprayed onto the bearing through a nozzle.
Compressed air cooled bearings
At the same time, additional pressure will be generated in the bearing layout to prevent impurities from entering.

To ensure the service life and performance of bearings, we should choose the correct bearing lubrication method and use clean lubricating oil to avoid damage during bearing use.
